6th Tri 30+ Run Trail Edition: October 4, 2014 (Malaybalay City, Bukidnon)

Tri 30+ Run, Malaybalay City's longest running run-for-a-cause series, will have its 6th edition this coming October 4, 2014. This is probably the most exciting edition of Tri 30+ as the 30-kilometer (more or less) route will pass along the Big Rock Trail in Sitio Caleb, Can-ayan. The Big Rock is a favorite training ground of Malaybalay's elite runners due to its challenging terrain. It features an uphill stretch of almost 3 kilometers with an elevation of more than 3,000 feet ASL. This route also offers the jaw-dropping view of verdant rolling hills and mountains which will make the run literally and figuratively breathtaking.

Tri 30+ Run is organized by Father Robert Selecios, a running and biking enthusiasts. This non-competitive race has helped various organizations in the past as 100% of the net proceeds from registration fees are donated to charitable causes. It also served as a regular gathering of runners from Malaybalay and neighboring places as they run not to compete with each other but to simply relish the joy of running with each other while enjoying the route.

3rd Impasug-ong Half Marathon: Running in Bukidnon's Land Down Under

A few years ago the Municipality of Impasug-ong became famous due to the movie Land Down Under (retitled to Love Me Again), starring Angel Locsin and Piolo Pascual, which was partly filmed here. Impasug-ong's stunning vista of verdant rolling hills and mountains was the perfect setting for the movie's cowboy theme. That is also accentuated by the fact that municipality is known as "Home of the Country's Finest Cowboys"

Last Sunday, September 7, 2014, I joined the 3rd Impasug-ong Half Marathon and 4th Invitational Fun Run. The race is part of the Araw ng Impasug-ong festivities. I am supposed to join only the 10K category since I am coming off an injury which sidelined my running for almost 2 weeks. The prodding of my officemate, however, convinced me to take on the half mary challenge. Despite the lack of requisite long runs and knowing fully the route's (very) challenging terrain, I told myself to just make this race a kickstart of my training for the Milo Marathon Cagayan de Oro Leg in November.
