Centennial Run Bukidnon, happening on August 2, 2014 in Malaybalay City, is part of the province's Centennial and Kaamulan Festival 2014 Celebration. Event distances include 3K, 5K and 10K. Aside from the Open Category there will be a Special Category for each team representing Bukidnon's 20 municipalities and 2 cities and runners representing the Seven Hill Tribes (recognized as the first inhabitants of Bukidnon).
Race will start and finish at the Capitol Grounds and will pass through the road going to Barangay Can-ayan. This route is a favorite training ground of Malaybalay Runners due to its challenging terrain and beautiful views. To give out-of-town runners a head up, posted below are photos of the race route taken from various runs we had along this road.
The race will start and finish in front of the Bukidnon Provincial Capitol Building:
From the Capitol Grounds, the route will go to Barangay 1 passing through the Springside Road:
Turn right upon reaching the corner of CM Recto and Rubin Streets. Landmark to remember is Amadeo's Steak House:
3K Turning Point is at the spillway before entering Sitio Kimambong, a few meters after passing along The Garden Party Venue:
Most parts of the route is shaded by tall trees on both sides of the road so expect to feel the cold air once you reach the barangay road going to Can-ayan:
5K Turning Point is near Malaybalay City Swimming Pool:
From the City Pool, it will be a long uphill stretch going to the City Water Works where another hydration station will be placed:
Hold your breath for a minute or two as you pass along the City Dump Site:
It will be followed by a flat, open road:
Then after a short uphill, you will reach the 10K Turning point which is near the Community Learning Center and the junction road going to Brngy. Kibalabag.
Enjoy the view as you run back to the finish line!
