Rave Run: Pineapple Fields in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon

This is the Del Monte pineapple plantation in Casisang, Malayabay City. Bukidnon is considered as the "food basket" in Mindanao and is home to the world's biggest pineapple plantation. In the background is Mount Kitanglad, the fourth highest peak in the Philippines with an elevation of 2,955 meters above sea level.  Photo taken during the 2011 Run for the Forests.

DXBU Back to School Fun Run

(Photo of the race poster from Benjamin Maputi Jr.)

Exactly one week after I finished my first 21K run, I joined the DXBU Back to School Fun Run held at the Bukidnon State University (BSU), Malaybalay City last Saturday, June 18, 2011. I signed up for 10k in this run which was organized to support the construction of Special Education Center pathway and distribute school supplies to deserving students of the university.

My First 21K: Dinaganay sa Malaybalay

And so I finally did it! Conquering the heat, exhaustion and dehydration (well, almost!), I managed to finish my first half-marathon run and of course, I was ecstatic.

Running 21K this soon was not part of my plan as I aimed to do it in the 35th Milo Marathon on October this year in Cagayan de Oro City. The opportunity, however, came when the City Government of Malaybalay held Dinaganay sa Malaybalay last Saturday, June 11, 2011. The run is part of my hometowns' 135th Araw ng Malaybalay Celebration.

Since my purpose in this blog is to share my experiences in various running events I have joined, I am re-posting this article in its entirety.

The 2011 Cebu Marathon

The 2011 Cebu Marathon was actually the third organized run I have joined. Before this event, I ran 5K in a local fun run held in my hometown Malaybalay City, Bukidnon. Unfortunately I wasn't able to take photos of that particular run.

Together with my officemate and fellow running enthusiast, I flew to Cebu City to join the 2011 Cebu Marathon. My officemate registered for his first 21K run. I would have wanted to try 10K in this run but since there are only 5K, 21K and 42K events, I settled for another 5K run. Anyway, running was not my only agenda in going to Cebu that time. Since I'm also a travel blogger, I planned to explore some heritage sites in South Cebu after the run.

My First Run: The 34th National Milo Marathon in Cagayan de Oro City

(Note: The photos here first appeared on my travel blog Suroy Pilipinas)

The 34th National Milo Marathon in Cagayan de Oro City was the very first running event I have joined. It was held last November 28, 2010. Being a newbie in running, I signed up for the 5k event in this run.
